Unboxing your MyPhone

Package Contents

Double check the contents of your package against the included Quick
Start Guide to make sure you have everything you need before you get
started.

You should have:
  • An Ooma Base Station
  • An Ethernet cable
  • An AC adapter
  • A MyPhone telephone

MyPhone Activation

Activate Online

Begin by using your smart phone to scan the QR code included in the Quick Start Guide to download the Ooma Setup App.

When you’ve installed the app, the activation wizard will guide you through:
  • Selecting a phone number
  • Registering your 911 address
  • Adding billing information
  • Creating your My Ooma account

You will also be prompted to set up your Trusted Circle, Quiet Hours, and 911 Alerts right away.

You’ll receive an email confirmation once your device is activated.

Your Ooma Base Station is wireless, but you can connect it to your router if you’d like. Use the included Ethernet cable to connect the INTERNET port of the Base Station to an open Ethernet port on your router:

Connect Your Phone to the Base Station

Use the included phone cable to plug the MyPhone corded telephone into the PHONE port.

Power On

Plug the provided AC adapter into the POWER port.

It is normal for the lights on the Base Station to blink for a couple of minutes while it boots up.

If your Telo needs a software upgrade, the light on top of the device will blink purple while it is downloading the newest version. This may take 5–10 minutes. Do not unplug the Telo while it is upgrading. It will automatically reboot after the upgrade is done.

The light on top of the device will light up blue once the device is ready to be used. Pick up the phone and listen for the musical Ooma dial tone to confirm that your set up is complete.

Here are some additional resources that may help you with your setup:

MyPhone Key Features

Manage preferences and explore additional
features in the My Ooma portal.

Quiet Hours

Quiet Hours are scheduled times when your phone won’t ring.

How to turn on Quiet Hours on or update your preferences:
  • Log into your My Ooma account and navigate to Quiet Hours under the Preferences tab.
  • Choose whether you’d prefer to limit incoming calls only or Incoming and Outgoing calls.
  • Set up your schedule. You can choose a Simple Schedule where Quiet Hours are the same every day, or you can set up an Advanced Schedule that lets you pick your Quiet Hours for each day of the week.
  • Save your changes.

911 Alerts

Going out shouldn’t be cause for concern when you leave your kids with a babysitter or when you’re caring for a loved one. Gain some peace of mind with 911 alerts. If anyone ever dials 911 from your MyPhone, we’ll immediately send a text message to your cell phone letting you know. You’ll instantly be alerted that there’s a problem, and can respond to the situation appropriately.

How to set up 911 Alerts:
  • Navigate to 911 Alerts under the Preferences tab in your My Ooma Account.
  • Select the option to enable 911 Alerts.
  • Enter the phone number or email address where you want alerts to be sent.
  • Optionally, you can enter a custom message that will be included in the alert — this can include specific instructions for the message recipient or important health information.
  • Save your changes.

You can enable up to three different numbers or email addresses to receive 911 Alerts. Please note that your mobile carrier may apply additional charges to your account to receive text messages.

Trusted Circle

There are some people that you want to hear from, and many that you probably don’t. If you are tired of receiving calls from strangers and people that you’re not interested in talking to, then Trusted Circle calling can help. Trusted Circle calling restricts incoming calls to your Ooma phone to only those people who are on your contact list. If they’re not on the list, then they won’t get through. It’s that simple.

How to turn on Trusted Circle calling:
  • Log into your My Ooma account and navigate to Call Blocking under the Preferences tab.
  • Select Trusted Circle Only. Decide whether Trusted Circle calling will apply only to Incoming calls or Incoming and Outgoing calls.
  • Use the Numbers not in your Trusted Circle dropdown menu to specify what happens to calls that come in from blocked numbers.
  • You can also set up different options for calls that are anonymous, calls from suspected spammers, and calls from people you have blocked.

If Trusted Circle calling is enabled, you will see an option to disable it on several different pages in your My Ooma account.
