OpenDNS with ooma

Post by dwasch » Sat Oct 09, 2010 3:35 am

Hi.

I can't seem to get openDNS working with my Ooma Telo. My set up is:

Cable Modem => Ooma Telo => Router (mac airport extreme, I think)

I registered on the openDNS website and then entered the required DNS settings in the DNS1 and DNS2 boxes in the telo, rebooted everything, tested it, nothing -- says I'm not using open DNS. I then changed my router settings, rebooted -- nothing.

Any suggestions on using openDNS with an Ooma teleo system?

Thanks

Trying putting the router first.

I agree, modem --> router --> ooma

Power cycle (turn off, wait 20 seconds, turn on) all starting with the modem, wait until it connects, then router, then telo.

I have Comp>router>Ooma>modem and I configured OpenDNS through the router and it works fine.

That seemed to work - Thanks!

One follow up. In your opinion, will this new configuration (modem => router => ooma) going to change the performance of the Ooma? Make the delay better or worse for example?

Thanks again.
