SIP call to my ooma?

Post by rsg » Wed Feb 03, 2010 9:24 pm

Hi, I just got my ooma started up tonight. I have a Google voice/Gizmo account and can use it for free calling on my cell phone...SIP to SIP. I presume that OOMA is SIP. So...if I could get the SIP address for my OOMA number, I'd be able to dial in for free.

For example, my gizmo SIP is 1747401XXXX@proxy01.sipphone.com

Help greatly appreciated!

Ooma is sip over vpn. They may not release sip account info until they have released the BYOD plans. Of course if you already bought an Ooma device, you essentially paid for service. Obviously they need a price structure for BYOD since they now get revenue from the devices themselves and more from premium. We should see a lot of things released in the next four months.

Yes, the price structure of ooma is curious. Compare to this for example: http://www.broadvoice.com/rateplans_byod.html So I'm looking forward to lotsa releases in the near future...just hope one isn't to rearrange my payback on the ooma service! So far, I like what I got.

Cheers
