Incoming Caller ID Issue

I have been having a wierd problem for a while now that I thought I would bring to the attention of the forum to see if anyone else has experienced it. Several times now my phone has rung and when I check the caller ID, it indicates that I am the caller. When I answer it, I usually find that it is a marketeer or someone wanting me to do a "survey". Is this an inventive scheme that the telemarketers have devised to fool people? Or is it an issue with my Ooma setup or configuration. I guess I could blacklist my own number, but I don't know if that would cause any problems, or not. Thoughts and ideas are appreciated.
