My local ISP just raised the monthly cost from $29.95 to $54.95 for internet only.
Cablevision and Verizon will now not allow me to purchase internet only unless I bundle it with their phone plan at a higher cost. I would like to keep my Ooma but they are making it difficult to realize any savings. What a racket! What ever happened to free enterprise? Any advice?

The $29.95 cost sounds like a limited time introductory rate. My Internet service is provide by a local ISP. I subscribe to Internet only, no phone or cable TV, and the cost is $50.99 per month for 12 Mbps download and 1.5 Mbps upload. I wish it was less expensive, but there isn't much competition in the small town where I live.

Yeah, that $29.95 looks like a intro/promotional price.
If cable Internet only, usually around $40 something to $50 something for respectable speeds (about 20 Mbps down).
With DSL at much slower speeds, maybe $10 cheaper which isn't worth it.

Comcast Performance internet, without a TV subscription, now costs $64.95 per month.
With a TV subscription it costs $51.95 per month.

murphy, bummer you live in an area where they charge the high end price....

"Comcast’s current monthly service charge for Performance ranges from $42.95 to $62.95, and may vary depending on your area.."
