Ooma vs. Telo

Post by jrossjr » Tue Jul 03, 2012 4:30 am

I have the original Ooma, and have been quite happy with it for years. Aside from hogging bandwidth (I have to turn it off to use Facetime). Woot has the Telo on sale today. Any good reasons to upgrade?

If your Ooma is in front of the router, need to adjust QoS upstream value. The factory default is set too low so you encounter described issue when on a call.

"Optimal Setup" posts for your reference:

My opinion is that there is no reason to upgrade unless you want Google Voice extension, Bluetooth functionality, WiFi setup, or Ooma handset integration (to take adavantage of Premier features and convenient online contacts syncs etc).

If you know and talk to someone with Telo handset, then the HD voice is great (Telo and Telo handset required).
