I have seen a number of people express concern regarding the length of time required to accomplish a number port. Well, there may be a new record: 2 days from submission of the request/authorization until the number port was completed. Could be a bad thing though... maybe AT&T wanted to get rid of me.

Completed request sent and confirmation received by Ooma on 3/20. Estimated porting completion date was 4/13. Received notice that porting was completed on 3/22.

Wow! You know I've read post on other sites where former telco emplyoees wrote that it actually only takes a few minutes to complete. Just takes a few keystrokes. I guess the person who did yours was a rookie and didn't know they were supposed to milk it. :)

Crap!! I just submitted my port request a few minutes ago. I have an AT&T land line that I'm porting and I also currently have DSL internet. I do not have a dry loop set up at the moment. I read online that I should order a dry loop service and schedule it on the same day that my port goes through (or a day after if you're willing to be without internet). I was expecting this to take a few weeks, but now you're saying it might go through by this weekend??? That means I should schedule my dry loop right away! :o

Hey OP, did you have to do anything special with AT&T? Or did you only submit the "paperwork" through Ooma? I want this to happen as quickly and smoothly as possible. Any feedback appreciated. Thanks.

If you lose your DSL service, you can try calling and have AT&T turn just the DSL back; see if they can do it remotely and quickly.
