Answering Machine

Post by shastastan » Wed Aug 10, 2011 12:12 pm

I thought I read somewhere that a phone answering machine doesn't work with Ooma. However, we have a V-Tech base unit with 4 phones and everything works fine including the answering machine. We like the answering machine because he gives off a tone/beep when there are messages. Our Ooma unit is in another room so to check for messages, we have to go look. We do like some voice mail features that the answering machine does not have though. We were just surprised that the answering machine works. Not sure why someone turned it on by mistake though.

As long as your answering machine answers in less rings than Ooma does (default is 4 rings) it will work.
