When installing and activating the ooma Hub, you can get a second line phone number (assuming this second number is tied to a Scout). Is this part of the Premier trial and goes away if you don't continue Premier service?

Yes - the second number and the Instant Second Line are both features of Premier. Premier may seem like a lot of money but when you compare all the features you get it is really a bargain.

As an additional clarification, you can have two numbers in shared mode on a hub or Telo and have them both availble for incoming or (with a code) outgoing calls. Without a scout (or a Telo handset on the Telo) you can't use them both at the same time, but lets say you have a lot of friends in Kansas City and you just moved to Cincinnati. You can have a number from both cities so your old and new friends can reach you as a local call. You can even set up different ring patters so you know which number a person is calling.
