Ooma Cat.5e cable......

Post by DatOoma » Thu Jun 25, 2009 12:29 pm

Does anyone know where I can buy an extended version of the Cat.5e cable used by Ooma? Preferably something of about 25ft.-30ft.?

IMHO Monoprice is the best source for all cables - data, video, audio. That is unless you have buckets of money to throw down the toilet. I've used their Cat5e, Toslink, HDMI, component video, S-video, and speaker wires with no problems. I did have a Toslink splitter that I felt was defective and instead of asking me to return it they just gave me a credit on my AMX card.

I just found a 100' Cat5e on their site for $8 - other shorter lengths are even cheaper.

I don't think I'd trust the flat stuff for runs longer than the one provided by ooma, but if you have to have it, I did find a 50' length of cat6 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimited- ... B0007QQJX4

I agree that I wouldn't trust the flat stuff. There is a minimum radius requirement that is very easy to exceed with it. It sure is nice looking though.

Monoprice rocks by the way.

I did find another source for the flat cable but cannot verify how good the company or the product is: http://www.vpi.us/cable-sf.html

If you do decide to go with the longer flat cable, would you please post your results and where you made the purchase?
