Traditional Telcos used phone numbers initially since it was a simple way for them to track you with a unique number. As time has progressed it seems as though even they are getting away from that logic as they upgrade their systems.
My ATT Wireless account is the phone number but my ATT (BellSouth) account is a username.
Thanks for the info and taking the time to consider the idea.
Soon our buggy whips will be useless.
I'll add a 4th benefit: Access to multiple phone numbers for VoiceMail, Blacklist, Call Logs, etc. without having to sign out/sign in again.Bobby B wrote:I've been pushing to get ooma usernames for:
1. Single sign-on for lounge, forums, blog and any other ooma community-based sites in the future (ex: support wiki or blacklist sharing)
2. Username-enabled referral program
3. Easier to troubleshoot problems on a public forum (given that you don't need to share personal info like your MAC ID or your phone number when you're having issues)
