annoying 3-5 second dial tone after hangup

We are using our old answering machine. The Ooma is working well, however, when someone calls and then hangs up, I must endure listening to a very loud and prolonged dial tone for 3-5 seconds. Is there any way to get rid of this...to have peaceful silence once the caller leaves their message and hangs up? Thanks

Most people use the Ooma answering machine for the very reason you described.

You could contact Ooma Customer Support and see if they have a solution.

And how would you know what "most people" use? I for one don't use Ooma's voice mail, and I've never heard of an Ooma answering machine, though perhaps they market one.
