You might have a cordless system that requires some configuration. Mine automatically captures 10 digits and allows you to add or delete a 1 if needed from the stored CID. If your system does not dial all 10 digits normally, there should be a setup configuration on your handset that allows you to send 10 digits on all calls. Location of that setting will vary from model to model. My stand-alone CID unit (with VERY LARGE letters) has dialout capabilities and also offers several choices in the configuration menu. Dig out your manual and see what it says. :cool:

I just signed up yesterday and am having the same problem. I'm also in the San Jose, CA area. Luckily I'm still in the 30 day 'risk-free' period because I'll definitely be dropping Ooma if I can't make local calls.

Unless you enable 10 digit dialing in my ooma website, you can not dial area code when dialing local number, otherwise, you'd get fast busy. Only dial area codes when area code is not the same as your ooma number. Also, if you enable 10 digit dialing, you can still dial local calls without the area code but will take a bit longer to connect (# at the end will make connection immediate).
