Solid orange indicated you were on a call on that line - Blinking orange indicates either a call coming in or a call on hold? I can't remember right now but that happened to me even though I wasn't on a call - I rebooted and it has been fine ever since.
The Mail light being orange indicates you have Do-Not-Disturb on. It will send calls directly to voice-mail. Press and hold that button for three seconds and it will go blue and you will be able to receive calls.
