What baud rate should I choose on my fax machine?

Post by ram104 » Tue Aug 04, 2009 6:17 am

Hello all,
I have a Canon Pixma MX700 all-in-one fax machine. Currently if I want to fax I have to dial *99 before the number and it works great. I just noticed that in the fax settings I can set the tx start speed from 7200 bps all the way up to 4800 bps. I am assuming that if I lower this number thee would not be a need to dial *99 anymore. The question I have is what number should I use?
Any help I would appreciate it.

You would still need to use the *99 or *99, as a dialing prefix to get the g711 codec with the lower compression rate.

The baud rate you set should be as high as possible while still getting reliable transmissions of faxes. You'll have to go by trial and error and see what works.
