VPN and Static IP

Post by Darrel01 » Mon Jul 26, 2010 7:35 am

Our company has a VPN and static IP. Is it possible to setup the Ooma Telo between the modem and router. The router is a Linksys BEFVP 41that sets behind a Charter business class cable modem/router. I think this would provide better quality VOIP. I currently experiencing some dropout and delay.

Thanks for any help.

In general what you are attempting to do is run IPSec behind a NAT router.

Theoretically it can work if you forward the right ports (or forward all the ports making your Linksys VPN router the "DMZ" in the Ooma config)

However, theory doesn't always match practice and there could be unanticipated roadblocks when you go and try it.

You can read more about IPSec NAT traversal here:
