Hi Guys:

Same old question regarding landline disconnect. However I'm in an CONDO, and was wondering what I have to do. I presently do have service with the phone co (At&T). Presently use Comcast for internet. Wanted to test 1st to make sure there is no dial tone, so I know what to do after I cancel my landline service. Some other threads I read mentioned just disconnect the rj in the nib or red and green wire?. I did this with mine; however there was still a dial tone?? I hope the photo I attached is correct, is this NIB box in a condo??

I want to plug Ooma so I may receive a dial tone trough my apt, and make use of my current phones plugged in already. Such as my old school Trimline which is push button not rotary.

Update 4-22-13

I'm putting a better res pic. I saw an AT&T repair man today, whom assured me the NIB is in my kitchen and just unplug the RJ cable. As mentioned earlier I did, but why is there still a dial tone then through the apt? Anyways he insisted not to touch the1st photo I just attached of some type of phone board in the electric room. Geez this is really getting frustrating, so I hope given the vast accumulated knowledge here someone can guide me in the right direction. I finally got my hm alarm cell based and finally ready to say good bye to At&T and stop wasting $ 40 buck just for local!!! In$ane....
Thanks everyone

NID should be outside the building, at least outside your unit. Maybe you can ask a property manager where the telephone patch is for all the units. You can probably disconnect your telephone company dialtone there.
