International Calling Rates to Puerto Rico

Using either Basic Service or Premier Service, all calls to Puerto Rico landlines and mobile phones are unlimited, meaning you can talk for as long as you’d like at no additional charge. Basic Service is included with the purchase of Ooma equipment, while Premier is an additional $9.99 monthly charge on top of any equipment purchase.

Keep in mind that Basic Service is prepaid; this means if you call elsewhere where Ooma does not offer unlimited calling through Basic Service, any charges will be deducted from your prepaid balance, so you’ll need to make sure you have funds available in your account.

While Basic Service has no monthly fee for crystal-clear nationwide calling, Premier Service offers a whole host of additional features for a low monthly charge. For example, Premier Service customers get powerful call-blocking tools to protect them against telemarketers and robocalls, as well as an Instant Second LineTM for making and receiving calls when your primary line is in use, the Ooma Mobile app for making calls from your mobile phone anywhere you are, voicemail access through email and text notifications, free unlimited calling to Canada and Mexico, plus many others that Basic Service doesn’t provide.

Whether you’re just occasionally calling to Puerto Rico for work or play, or you frequently make calls to stay in touch with friends and family, Ooma’s the right choice for you.

International Calling Plans to Puerto Rico

Besides the Basic and Premier plans, Ooma offers two other calling plans for those who’d like unlimited calling to international locations outside of Puerto Rico.

The Ooma World Plan gives you unlimited calling to landline numbers in 60 countries and mobile numbers in 10 countries for $17.99 per month. This plan is perfect for those looking for a low-priced option for unlimited international calling in the most frequently called countries worldwide.

Upgrading to the Ooma World Plus Plan provides even greater flexibility for where you can call without having to worry about how many minutes you use. This plan includes unlimited calling to landlines in 70 countries and mobile phones in 40 countries, and it costs $25.99 per month.

Like Basic and Premier Service, unlimited calling to both Puerto Rican landline and mobile phones is included with both plan options.

How to Call Puerto Rico from the U.S.

Calling Puerto Rico is no different than making a traditional long distance call.

To call Puerto Rico, you can use either your Ooma Telo-connected home phone or the Ooma Mobile app.

  • First, dial 1 like you are making a traditional long distance call.
  • Now, dial the 10-digit number (3-digit area code plus 7 digits).
Puerto Rico is part of what is called the North American Numbering Plan (NANP), which allows 20 countries and U.S.-controlled territories to dial internationally like they’re traditionally accustomed to. While the number format is the same, these are still international calls, so higher rates than U.S. long distance may still apply.

In Ooma’s case, this is not an issue, as all Puerto Rico calls are unlimited regardless of plan or number type.

When calling using the Ooma Mobile app, you will not use any minutes or incur international charges on your wireless bill. Instead, these calls are routed over your data connection and may count against your data allotment if you’re not on an unlimited plan with your carrier. If possible, connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot to place calls if you want to minimize data usage.

Calling another Ooma customer, regardless of which country they’re in, is free of charge no matter how long you talk. If you encounter any issues or have any further questions, feel free to get in contact with us via our Customer Support website at http://support.ooma.com.
