BUILD YOUR SYSTEMStart by removing the mounting plate from the Smoke Alarm by twisting it counterclockwise. Then, use a narrow instrument, like a pencil, to quickly press the Pairing button, labeled PAIRING.
The Smoke Alarm will power on and sound three loud beeps. The status indicator light ring will blink red as the device starts up. When the light ring stops blinking, the Smoke Alarm is ready.
The National Fire Protection Association recommends that you install your smoke alarm in the following areas:
Note: In homes with more than 1,000 square feet per level, additional alarms may be required.
You may mount your Smoke Alarm on a flat ceiling, sloped ceiling or wall. However, the Smoke Alarm must be 4 inches from any corner and at least 12 inches up on the wall. On a sloped ceiling, it must be within 36 inches of the center of the ceiling.
To mount your Smoke Alarm, follow these steps:
The Ooma Smoke Alarm uses two lithium-ion batteries that are permanently sealed inside the alarm. No battery installation or replacement is necessary for the life of the alarm.
The Smoke Alarm’s batteries have an expected life of 10 years. When the alarm nears the end of its life, the Smoke Alarm will “chirp” every minute for at least 30 days. You will then need to purchase and install a new Ooma Smoke Alarm.
P.S – Please read our Notice under Warnings and Limitations. It’s important to note that pairing Smoke Alarm with Ooma Smart Security App can drain the battery if Smoke Alarm and Telo have interrupted internet connection.
To deactivate the Smoke Alarm before replacing it, follow these steps.
Once these steps are complete, the Smoke Alarm will no longer work. The red pin will prevent the alarm from being re-mounted onto the mounting bracket by error.
Ooma recommends that you clean your Smoke Alarm at least once a year. To do this, remove the Smoke Alarm from the mounting plate by twisting it counterclockwise.
Then, use a soft brush to remove any dust from the openings around the device.
Note: Never use water, cleaners or solvents to clean the Ooma Smoke Detector.
You can pair your Smoke Alarm with the Ooma Smart Security App to take advantage of additional features. For instance, you can set triggers for when and how Smoke Detector alerts you.
Note: Please make sure the Smoke Alarm has a stable and interrupted connection with Ooma Telo.
