Using voice commands to control your home devices can make things so much easier. This applies to home security, too; that’s why the smart home security system now includes home security that integrates with Alexa.
The latest updates to Ooma Home don’t end there. We’ve also added integration with the Ooma Butterfleye so you can create custom device interactions and more.

How Can You Use Alexa with Ooma Home Security?
You can already use Amazon’s Alexa to control your Ooma Telo, and now you can use it to control your Ooma Home security system, too.
One Alexa voice command that’s especially useful is the ability to arm and disarm your security system with a spoken command and PIN number. By simply saying “Alexa, ask Ooma to disarm with PIN 1-2-3-4,” you can stop the system from sending activity notifications and disarm the piercing 105-decibel Ooma siren.
Subscribers to the Ooma Home Secure plan may have already experienced hands-free arm/disarm with the location-based mode switching feature. The Alexa commands can supplement this geofencing feature for circumstances when you don’t have your mobile device, such as a morning run, or as a way for guests or family members to disarm the system.
Additionally, you can now use voice commands to do a status check of your security system. Simply say, “Alexa, ask Ooma to check status,” to get the response, “All sensors are normal.” Or, if any sensors have been triggered, the response will list those sensors. This can let you know where there has been motion or which doors or windows are open. While this is very useful in the event of a security threat, it can also be valuable when closing up your home before leaving for the day.
Additional Security Integrations
With this recent update that integrates Alexa and Ooma Home, we’ve also added integration between Ooma Home and the Ooma Butterfleye video camera, which is the latest addition to the Ooma security device family.
With AI-powered facial recognition, livestream video, two-way audio, and functionality during both power outages and internet outages, the Ooma Butterfleye can be a powerful component of your Ooma Home security.
Plus, the Ooma Butterfleye can interact with all other Ooma Home sensors through the Ooma Home app. For example, if a motion sensor detects activity in the front entryway, a camera in the living room can automatically begin recording to document any activity and capture if an unauthorized person entered the house. Or, if a camera hears a loud noise while the Ooma Home app is set to “Away” mode, a siren could automatically start blaring to preemptively scare away an intruder before he or she can open your door or window.
Getting Started with Smart Security
The Ooma Home security system provides you with the tools you need to secure your home or business. It’s noted for its easy setup, unlimited sensor capacity, flexible installation, and Remote 911 services.
To get started, the Ooma Home Security Starter Pack provides you with an initial set of sensors and devices. The starter pack is available at two levels. The basic pack includes an Ooma Telo base station, two door/window sensors, and a motion sensor, for $179.99. For those wanting additional security, the pack can also include an Ooma Butterfleye video camera for a total cost of $299.99, which is a savings of more than 20 percent over purchasing each device individually.
Additional security sensors or cameras can be added at any time. Improve your security by adding a garage door alarm sensor, a water sensor to protect your home against flood damage, a 105-decibel siren to deter intruders, additional motion sensors, and door/window sensors.
All Ooma Home users have access to real-time notifications, activity modes (home, away, night), 90-day activity logs, tamper detection notifications, and more.
For those who want more security features and enhanced notifications, the Ooma Home Secure plan offers advanced features such as Remote 911, location-based mode switching, multiple users of the app, alternate notification methods, and more.
At just $5.99 per month, contract-free home security has never been more affordable.
Users of the Ooma Telo phone service receive discounted security at $4.99 per month if they also use residential phone service which costs about $3 to $5 per month in taxes and fees.
