Just wondering if one were to purchase Ooma Core right now will I still be exempt from paying the Federal fee? I just want to make sure before I recommend this to someone. Another question is if it's still free, for what reason hasn't Ooma start charging Core users? Is there some component built in to the Core units preventing this?

Yes, if you activate a new Core, no RRF.
Ooma is a stand-up company honoring what's printed on the Core box (nothing about taxes printed) and ad materials floating around about the Core.
