When porting a # to Ooma, who owns it?

When porting a # to Ooma, who owns it?

I read some reviews of Ooma, and one person claimed that if you port your # into Ooma, that in Ooma's terms of service, they say they then own the #. So assumably you would NOT ever be able to port it out, if need be. Is that correct, or was that person mistaken? I couldn't find any info about it on Ooma's web site.

ooma does not become the owner of the number. You can port it away at a later time if you want to move it somewhere else.

The originating telco owns the phone numbers

By law (number portability and pooling), the have to let you port the number if the new service provider provides service in that rate center (local exchange carrier).

VoIP providers were exempt from this for awhile. (I dont think this is true anymore)
So if you were issued a phone number from OOMA, OOMA "owns" the number.
