In landline integration mode, long distance calls go out via internet (I am guessing this is the reason why your landline was freed up and you could receive/dial out); incoming calls and outgoing local calls are through your landline so the line would not be freed up. Landline integration mode is not recommended by many because you are at risk of having numerous problems. 1 example is no incoming callerid issue. Another being voicemail not picking up.
