ooma and Verizon

We have FiOS. Just added Ooma.
When the phone rings (number not yet ported), Verizon VM picks up before the answering machine. Is that just Verizon confusion? Can that be fixed or must we wait for the port to be completed?

Until the port completes, Verizon is still your incoming phone company.
If you integrated your Verizon phone line with Ooma and weren't going to port your number, you would have to cancel your Verizon voice mail and any other services you might have.
Since you are porting, just wait it out.
I do not recommend making any changes to your Verizon account because a change in progress can cause a port to be rejected by Verizon.

The only other option, in the meantime, would be to go into My Ooma and change the number of rings until the Ooma voicemail picks up to 3. That way it will pick up before the Verizon voicemail does.
