Fax Machine unable to connect

Post by AZbrian » Tue Dec 30, 2008 1:33 pm

Anybody know how to get a fax machine to work with this system. I plugged my Dell 964 fax into the phone line, disconnecting everything else, of the ooma main hub. It dials fine, but then says "connecting" for quit a while then gives a failure to connect error.
I completely disconnected the ooma system and used my old landline and the fax went though without any problems right off the bat.
Any help would be appreciated.

From the ooma User Guide:

For best results, fax machines should be connected to the ooma Hub (using the PHONE port), not to an ooma Scout. To prevent interference with the operation of the ooma system, please make sure the fax machine is configured to not answer phone calls automatically. When placing fax calls, dial *99 prior to dialing the destination fax number.

Ha Ha, thanks. Works great, I guess reading the provided literature would have fixed it earlier. The *99 is the trick.
Thanks again.
