A friend reported that a call made to her number showed up as "private number" (or similar) on her phone. I don't have the ooma option set to block my caller ID. Since I hate it when people block their caller ID, I absolutely don't want my caller ID blocked.

Any suggestions?

I haven't called tech support yet. I thought I'd try this first.

It takes time to propagate a new number to tall the caller ID databases in use

Did you port your original number, or are you using a temporary OOMA number?

A call to OOMA customer support can sometimes help to move along the process

Just an update --- within a week or so, the caller ID started working.
