My Number Port Experience

Post by Groundhound » Thu Jun 04, 2009 9:04 am

No problems yet, just FYI.

May 16 - Submitted port request online and received email confirmation back with copy of LOA attached. Porting my Comcast DV number to ooma.

May 26 - Received email from Sarah at ooma stating my port is scheduled for completion on June 4, 19 days from my request.

June 4 (today) - noticed about 30 min. ago that inbound calls to my number to be ported are receiving a disconnect/not-in-service recording. Not sure when this actually started. This is to be expected according to ooma phone support person, and that port should be finished by 5:30 pm Pacific time, or 7.5 hours from now (hopefully won't take that long).

Port complete, inbound calls now ringing and my Lounge login has been changed to my ported number. Nice!

Note: All call logs on original ooma assigned number lost but all other settings and voice mail box transferred to ported number.

That's almost the same as my experience, porting from AT&T landline.

I requested a number port on 5/16/2009. Received notification number was scheduled to be ported on 5/22/2009, for a port date of 06/04/2009. On 06/04/2009 port was started around 10:00 am and completed around 4:00 pm (during which time number was dead). So basically, 19 business days end-to-end to complete number porting. Very smooth port experience in my opinion.

I requested porting number on March 11 and I'M STILL WAITING FOR MY NUMBER TO BE PORTED! No explanations, no emails, no customer service. I called again this morning to check on the status and they tell me it's scheduled for June 10--we'll see.

Success Story here as well.

From Verizon ILEC Land line.

Placed on-line order Friday Night May 22.
Received two Emails on Tuesday May 26th after Memorial Day.
Port complete On June 8th, as anticipated.

P.S.
I do think Ooma should think about charging the $39 only when they successfully port a line, or issue a refund if they are not able to. Maybe they already do that? Otherwise, smooth transaction for me. Now, time to enjoy one less monthly bill!
