Porting process

Post by provlima » Tue Sep 18, 2012 8:48 pm

If I port my current landline number to ooma, what is the process as far as my verizon phone termination?

In other words will Verizon contact me about this request by ooma. At which point in the process do I end my verizon relationship. How will I know the porting process is completed and be able to call Verizon to "disconnect" their landline service

Thanks for your help

You will be advised by email as to the date of the port.
When the porting process is complete your Verizon account will be automatically closed.
On the day of the port your Verizon phone service will stop working for incoming calls early in the day.
Outgoing calls may still work.
Use your cell phone to call your ported number.
When it rings through on your Ooma equipment you will know the port is complete.

If you have Verizon DSL internet service that may also quit unless you make provisions with Verizon for DSL only service.

Only call Verizon to confirm "cancellation" after number port is completed.
