Entering credit card # using touchtone via Ooma doesn't work

Post by msweiger » Wed Nov 30, 2011 12:51 pm

I was trying to validate a new credit card using Ooma Telo attached to my touch tone base phone, and every time I entered the 16 digits it said I had not entered enough digits. I had to talk to a real person to get it validated. Can one enter touch tone digits correctly using an Ooma internet phone? Is there some sequence I need to dial before entering? Is this another manifestation of the fax problems, because faxes also using tones to do there work? Thanks, Mark

I'd done it with little problem. I always give it a little pause between a firm press for each digit, typically about 1/2 to 3/4 of a second.

I had this problem before when I used to do it fast like typing on the keyboard. I have to learn to slow down a bit. I works for me every time now.

Thanks for the advice on the slower typing. I am a number keyboard touch typist and can go just about as fast as anyone entering numbers. I bet that is my problem.
