question - update without activate?

Post by johnboy » Wed Mar 03, 2010 1:01 pm

Can anyone tell me if I buy a new Telo and don't activate it, but connect it (electricity and internet), will it update with the latest firmware? I want to give someone one, and would like to make their connection to up time as short as possible and don't mind opening the box before giving it to them. Thanks.

Why don't you activate it too. Sure you have his/her name + address already, haven't you? I'm doubt that without activation first, the unit won't be able connecting to ooma server for updating.

thanks for the reply. More of a point of curiousity than necessity. I certainly can do that, but might like to let her activate it. It's kind of the "open the box" experience with a shortcut.
