Any news on Google Voice Extensions

Post by 3053596172 » Tue Nov 17, 2009 12:42 pm

Is this feature being canned or still planned for launch?

Note my username is not my real phone number, just a random number.

It may not be your phone number but it's someone's phone number that you are exposing to the world.

In fact it is an unpublished landline phone number in the Keys, Florida. Not a good idea.

It's still planned. https://www.ooma.com/blog/2009/09/30/hello-ooma-telo/

How is picking 10 numbers at random "exposing a phone number to the world?"

If the area code and exchange are non zero it is a valid phone number with a high probability that it is someone's phone number. All of the search engines prowl all of the web sites they can find and index everything they find. In less than a day all of the search engines will have that number in their database.

Google Voice Invite

Post by Tiger5353 » Fri Nov 20, 2009 11:04 am

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask but was wondering if anyone has a google voice invite that they could share with a fellow ooma member. Tried to get invite from google but it seems it may be a while before they start it up again. :D

Thanks in advance

Be patient. The last invite request I submitted took only about 5 days. The first one I did took 2 or 3 weeks. I think they are getting a bit quicker than they were earlier in the year.

Thanks for the idea of being patient byersthja but i sent google a request for an invite 12 weeks ago. Then 7 weeks ago and again 4 weeks ago so my patience's has ran out with them at this point. :)

Did you use the same email address for all 3 requests? I guess it's possible the invites are getting caught in a SPAM filter or having some other issue getting to your mailbox. That's an awfully long time to get no response. Try using a hotmail or yahoo address to submit a new request.
