Quasi CNAM info sent by Ooma during a call?

Post by lbmofo » Wed Jun 08, 2011 3:40 pm

Most folks know how outgoing callerid name works; receiving carrier looking up CNAM db and such.

The following has happend to me 2wice recently so I am kind of curious.....

I helped a couple of friends setup their Ooma. Right after number selection, doing a test call to my Blackberry, the Blackberry shows the proper callerid name. I didn't add them to my Blackberry address book.

I am thinking....no way CNAM db registration happens that fast so I am wondering if Ooma calls include some kind of quasi CNAM info with it where Blackberry is able to decipher?
