Most telephone companies present a stuttering dial tone when a call is waiting. Ooma does not.

My Telo is in the basement so I cannot see its lights. I do not use the Ooma handsets. There is no change in the dial tone if a call is waiting. Thus I have no means of knowing if I have a phone message waiting unless I dial my own number, check the Web page, or check my e-mail.

This is a major flaw with the system.

Yes, a lot of new phones have the voicemail waiting indicator feature that works with voicemail subscription with landline and other phone services; Ooma's voicemail also works with this phone feature.
