One way is to call your own number. When you hear your own voicemail greeting, press the * key then your PIN. You are then in your VM inbox.

Then another possibility is for someone who wants to check VM from a remote location when someone is home and you don't want to disturb them - if you have call block / send to VM if the caller ID is blocked - dial with a landline or cellphone and dial *67 before your own Ooma number, which will send your call right into VM without ringing your home phone. You then press the * key and put in your PIN.

It happens when you "initialize" your voicemail. You can only do this from your primary Ooma number. Dial your own number with the primary phone and it will walk you through the setup process.
