When I dial a 1-877 number from my Telo (Ottawa, Canada - area code 613) I get a recording saying I "have dialed a number not available from my calling area". Please help.

Called customer service - under investigation ticket # 120-318-00259

I've never installed an 800 number, so I may be quite wrong, but it seems to me that a customer ordering 800 (866,. 877, etc) service specifies the geographic area from which calls are to be accepted.

In other words, I don't think that an 800 number is necessarily accessible from any location on the planet.

Yes i do agree with you that all 800 series numbers are not available any where on the planet ... thats comon sense! but the 800 series of numbers in your own country or even your own province eg: your utility company , should be available !, All of oomas brochures and online ads make no mention of 800 numbers in your own area not being available ,only the 808 to Hawai will have charges !

Had a call from a CSR at Ooma yesterday they wanted me to try calling one of the unreachable 800 numbers , lol still a no go , funny that a company with this much technology cannot work around the problem , will wait till next week and call again to speak to a 3rd level tech , who assurred me he was working on it , hmm does that mean he is reading it while eating his lunch?? PS '' get a cell phone'' ??????????? im in an area where cell phones dont work , thats why i bought an Ooma!!!

My experience from a year ago was that they did work through the issues on a number by number basis. They had me make the call when the tech was on the phone and they could debug the problem live. It did take some time between calls for them to make adjustments.

I'm sorry the cell phone work around I use won't work for you. Please note that that comment was directed at a friend of mine who made the initial post. He lives where there are numerous cell services available.

If you don't have cell service, I hope your Internet connection is solid enough to deliver the quality VOIP requires.
