I still have one landline for the everything else fails situation, might consider scrapping it eventually.

However, that last landline I have Caller ID Block on it. Nevertheless, my Caller ID on the phone my Ooma is connected to, shows my blocked ID's number when I call from the landline to the Ooma line.

The name is "anonymous," but the number shows up clear as day.

If I call my mobile phones or other people's landlines, the number is blocked as I pay for the blocking with AT&T.

I guess Ooma has some way of getting around the block and showing private callers' numbers?

A bit strange. Anyone else notice this?

It's certainly interesting. I've continued to test this out.

My landline shows up blocked everywhere, but not when I call my Ooma.

If I turn my mobile phone to not show the number, it still shows up when I call the Ooma.

It's pretty neat in a way! People cannot hide from Ooma, but I but they will have to change this eventually as it doesn't respect the privacy the callers are asking to have.

My Ooma numbers show blocked, private when I call them using *67 prefix.

Not sure what is happening with your Ooma number. Perhaps, your Ooma carrier? or the Callerid 3rd party that Ooma uses? Maybe the Ooma carrier/callerid 3rd party combo servicing your Ooma number is using the ANI for the callerid info for some reason. http://www.privacyrights.org/fs/fs19-cid.htm

You can look up your carrier here: http://tnid.us

My carrier is XO.

Not sure if you mean this.

When I receive incoming calls, I can see blocked and private numbers of the callers. It doesn't give name, but I can see blocked & private incoming caller numbers.

It's the calls I'm receiving into my Ooma.

It is very odd. ha-ha.

Thanks for the clarification.

Very strange then. Just had two more friends call me tonight from landlines that have *always* been blocked/private. The names were "anonymous," but their numbers clearly showed up.

Well, I'll take it as an extra feature for the time being. :)
