I have a ooma dail tone on the telo, all lights are blue, yet when I dial a number all I get is silence. I just hooked up the device and it has not worked yet.

There is probably a problem with your Ooma profile.
So you will have to contact Ooma Customer support:

jcarling, this may not be your situation but what you describe is what happens between the time your Ooma loses internet connection and the time your Ooma realizes it and comes offline. Dialtone but silence after dialing.

I was having this problem, but after rebooting the calls went though nomally. When I was having this problem, some days, every time I wanted to use the phone, I had to reboot the Ooma Telo serveral times. Then by itself, it cleared up and it's been normal since.

Try removing power from the Ooma device. Then repower the Ooma device and test.
