You have to call Ooma Customer Service and have them do it, but they say this change is permanent.

It is better, if you use another voicemail, to set the My Ooma voice mail settings to the maximum number rings before pickup. Then you set the other voicemail machine to pickup the call with less number of rings, so the other voicemail mail machine will always pickup the calls first. This configuration keeps your options open.

The only issue with this option is that if you're on the phone when someone calls, the call will go to ooma voice mail and not your answering machine.
