For last couple of days, the caller can hardly hear. Voice from Ooma's side to the receiver breaks up badly and is very choppy. Pretty much impossible to understand what is said. This happens over larges stretches of time (multiple hours or days). Sometimes it does not happen.

There is no lack of bandwidth. speedtest.net shows I have more than 1Mbps upload and 3-6Mbps dowload b/w. When the call is on, my router shows just around 40kbps up and 40kbps down taken by Ooma. What could be causing this very choppy voice on receiver? On Ooma side, I can hear the call clearly.

My set up: modem --- router --- ooma.

Can Ooma check what happened based on some logs?

UPDATE: Connection test at http://www.whichvoip.com/voip/speed_test/ppspeed.html shows the internet connection has some serious problems. Now the problem how to fix that.

I checked the quality by visiting http://www.whichvoip.com/voip/speed_test/ppspeed.html as some one suggested in another post.

It shows some problems with my connection.

Could some one explain better about what could be wrong? How should I describe this problem to my internet carrier Comcast? Can this jitter only affect upstream?

thanks.

I'm experiencing the same issue. I can hear people clearly, but at times they say that I'm choppy or breaking up. I have done speed tests and changed my QoS to 1500. This happens different parts of the day. I reset my modem and ooma devices with no luck.
Here are the results from my speed test:Image

Ram, please check "quality" of your connection at http://www.whichvoip.com/voip/speed_test/ppspeed.html. bandwidth and QoS on your Ooma does not matter if your problem is some where else (like mine). Check the site when you notice the choppy calls. Once you run the test, check 'advanced' tab and there is a 'view text' link. You can post the results here.

'ping' is also a pretty good indicator of my problem :
last night (when the calls are choppy):

raghuooma how do you copy the results and paste them on the forum? I tried to right click and copy, but it doesn't work.
When I did the test I had all green lights expect for QoS which was yellow than when I tested is again it was green. Went from 63% to 96%. Just like you its not all the time, but it does happen with the voice break-up, but only there end.
I was able to copy and paste this from my results.Speed test statistics
