nlrhodes, glad it's working for you. I am actually in the same boat as you, but with a twist.
Ooma support specifically said the problem is with the ISP
My ISP told me that the modem I have does not block any ports.
All I know is that one of them is wrong, and I suspect it is my ISP.

Maybe your ISP needs to forward the ports as in one of my previous ports to the IP address of your modem. That is what mine did first. It did not open up the internet to OOMA. I sent a follow up email to the provider asking if opening the ports also opened the firewall to the VOIP box. They responded that the firewall was now open to recycle the modem. When I did that, all worked.
I answer a question in a previous post, I do not know if the firewall can be opened to specific ports or if it is a all or nothing option. I do know that I need to be proactive in my security on my laptops.
I was also concerned about delay on a DSL but I can truthfully say the call quality is superb. I have used the phone twice and it is crystal clear.
