Had set up Ooma Telo about 2 months ago per directions and it worked. Then had internet connection problems and had to remove Ooma to get connection back. Due to out-of-town visitors, I'm just getting back to try again. Was told I can't install before the cable modem so how do I do this? The "support" documentation is not connecting for me & can't find original documents. Please advise specific connections from PC to cable modem to Ooma to router so this works. Otherwise, it's on it's way back to Costco........

Power off cable modem (if there are batteries, remove them) and router.

Hook up modem to ooma's "modem" port using ethernet cable.

Hook up ooma's "home" port to routher's port that modem used to feed.

Power up the cable modem (put the batteries back), wait until it goes online.

Then power up ooma until it turns blue.

Power up the router.

You're done.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I am confused. I do not have the ports you mention. The Ooma Telo has 2 ports: "Home Network" and "To Internet"

And I had problems putting the Ooma before the router. The cable modem must go to the router and then to the Ooma Telo.

As I said, I'm confused and still am.

Update.......I now have Ooma dial tone.

Configured as follows:

Cable goes to cable modem.
Ethernet cable from cable modem to router.
Ethernet cable from router to Ooma Telo's "To Internet" port

OH.......now the dial tone is gone and have red flashing in centerr of Telo!!!!

Now what?

I'd leave it running for a while to let it get updates pushed through.

See if Telo will return to blue after a while.

I'd recommend putting the Telo between the modem and the router.

The "to internet" goes to the modem and "home network" goes to the router.

If you power up things in sequence as I mentioned, it should work.

It did go back to blue after a software update & seems fine now. As I posted earlier, I just have a cable from the Ooma Telo's "To Internet" to an open port on the router.

My previous internet issue occurred when I put the Ooma Telo between the modem and router. By the way, the Cablevision tech had never heard of Ooma so I hope that they will become more familiar with this system to help others.

I'll see how this configuration works for awhile and report back in a week or so.......sooner, if problems.......

i hope someone will check out why I was unable to access the support documentation for installation.
