DVR Connection through OOMA

Post by nidhistreasure » Thu Mar 05, 2009 6:19 pm

Hi Folks,
I just recieved myOOMA hub and found in quick guide that i can not connect DVR to OOMA, i need to have a landline or internt connection. I called up Dish network and they confirmed that DVR would work only with phone and not internet. Dish network wondered why OOMA would not allow DWV.
Is there anyone who has been able to connect DVR in any manner (using splitter, setting up satelite reciever to dial *99 etc etc). any help would be greatly appreciated otherwise i would have to give this OOMA to someone else or return it

OOma works fine with DIsh DVR

I personally do not have it, but have read numerous posts saying yes. (It does work with my fax machine)

On the back of the HUB, use the included Y-spliiter and connect it to the PHONE port of the hub.

One end goes to your telephone, and the other will go to your DISH DVR.

On the dish DVR, setup a dial plan that includes *99, then dial XXX-XXX-XXXX (dish number)

PS- I believe the HD Dish DVR uses an ethernet port via your broadband.. do you have an older generation DVR?

Anyhow, the *99 method will work just fine
