Thanks for both tips. I will purchase the switch.
Would you also help me with another question?
My Alarm panel is downstairs and it is already wired to work with VOIP from the modem. In other words, my phone line from the exiting cable modem goes to the alarm panel. So, once I connect the OOMA hub I presume that I would have to connect the wall plug out of the OOMA hub to the Alarm where the modem conencts now.
Will this effect the way the Alarm works now?

Nope. You connect the phone jack from the hub directly to the alarm panel. The alarm panel feeds dial tone to the rest of the house.
