The ooma mac address on the bottom of my hub and the one I registered
is different from the one I see on my network. Why is this and will it cause communication problems with other ooma hubs.

The Ooma has two ethernet interfaces (one for "inside" your LAN labeled "home" and one for "outside" labeled "wall"), hence the two MAC addresses. The "outside" address mimics your home router's MAC address by default, if you set it up in the default modem -> ooma -> router configuration.
This is normal and won't cause any problems.
