How to tell what firmware on the Ooma Telo

Post by nilesf » Sun Mar 21, 2010 6:46 am

How does one tell what firmware version is on the Ooma Telo? I see a revsion number 1.33170 and 1.33190 on the handset. Is that the firmware and are they posted as .3x (without the first digit)? Also how does one update the firmware? If it automatic and does not update how does one force the update?

Thank you,
Niles

With your computer plugged in to the home port on the Telo, go to setup.ooma.com. Go to "status". The firmware version for your Telo is at the top of the page. You do not have to do anything to get latest version. Ooma pushes it out at night. I believe it may take several days to get it to everyone.

Okay I stil have the old firmware. 1.33170. The latest is 1.35170. Is there a way to force the update?

If you happen to have a telo handset (which is sold by ooma) you can check the telo firmware version on the hand set menu 'information'

You can not force an update. It will update when your serial number is scheduled to be updated.

Handset reads 1.33190 Ooma Telo read 1.33170. Should they be the same? So the update does not happen for everyone at the same time? That sucks.

Check the numbers again. The display on the handset is driven directly from the Telo base.

It is physically impossible to update all of the Telos at the same time. That would require an enormous amount of bandwidth.

More than nine days to update everyone? Yes I guess it makes sense to asume that Ooma does not have enough bandwidth to roll out updates for everyone. But when do you think one could expect everyone to be complete?

Thank you,

My handset says version (nothing says firmware) 32829. I don't see anything mentioning firmware or with a 1. preceding a number.

Connect to http://setup.ooma.com
Click on Status in the left column.
It's at the top of the page.
