Scout with red lights on constantly

Post by NB2A » Fri Dec 18, 2009 5:47 pm

I have a hub just installed that has the blue light on with dial tone but a scout on the same line with 4 bottom buttons and top logo staying red.
The scout does have dial tone though

Any reason?

Thanks

How's the Scout connected to the Hub? Could you provide more details on your setup?

It is in the main hardwire telco in the house that has worked no problem before

Are you saying Scout used to work and it does not now? In any case, the best way to test the Scout is to connect it directly to the Hub and see if it works. If it does, then at least the problem is not with the Scout. We can then focus on the Home Wiring. For now, try connecting the Scout directly (the Scout Wall port to the Hub Wall port).

The scout has always worked with a dial tone even with the bottom 4 buttons and the logo staying red
Why does the buttons stay lit red is the question?

They are staying red because the scout is not connected to the hub properly. Connect a phone cable from the wall jack of the hub to the wall jack of the scout. Connect a phone to the phone jack of the scout.

I was going to suggest the same thing that murphy did ... I don't think your Scout is connected correctly to the Hub.

Regardless of the way the jack is configured the scout has dial tone but the 4 buttons at the bottom and the logo stay red

I have one phone from the scout and one line connected to the wall jack from the main house telco which is a dead telco line no dial tone anymore

Does the main hub need to have the wall jack jumped to the phone jack maybe?

The wall jack of the hub MUST be connected to the wall jack of the scout, either directly or through the in wall wiring.
That's how they communicate.
