I am ready to convert my analog phone line+DSL to ooma. But I am not sure what is the right sequence. I want to port my current number and completely remove the analog phone line. Therefore I need to "disassociate" the phone line from the DSL line: I need "dry loop" DSL. But which one do I do first: Ask AT&T for dry loop (and what happens then to my existing phone number?) or install the ooma first and ask ooma to port the number?
I think separating the number from DSL (converting to dry loop) has to happen before you complete a number port, because porting generally causes automatic closing of the customer's phone account with the losing carrier.
