Brand new install. I went to the web site and supplied all the required information. It was all very smooth. I made my first call from Ooma to my still working AT&T line. Caller ID came through as somebody I'd never heard of. Now wait a minute I just got done picking this NEW number, right? So who controls who's name shows up in the caller ID field? IMHO this isn't a very good way to get things started.

I'm sure there is a good reason for that delay but I'll just leave it alone. Looking forward to April Fools Day.

Caller ID name is not transmitted by the calling phone company.
The called phone company takes the incoming phone number and looks up the name in the caller ID database that they use.
There are many different caller ID databases in the USA.
Until your name has been propagated to all of them there will be instances of the wrong name being presented.
They don't all update their database on the same schedule.
