Is the 'To Home Network' a pass-through?

Post by jonatuna » Fri Feb 22, 2013 12:58 pm

Hello all.

Just got my unit and I'm using it hardwired to my modem/router. My question is does the 'To Home Network' plug on the ooma telo work as a pass thrrough? Can I hook another device (in my case the AppleTV) to this port and get access?

Just curious as it will save me slinging another ethernet cable from the router...

Devices connected will have internet access but will have different NAT so won't be able to access other parts of your internal network and vice versa.

Thanks. I'll give it a try, but from what you describe it sounds like I can use the Apple TV, but might not be able to airplay to it from my computer or ipad?

I guess easiest way is to give it a shot...

Best thing to do is not have anything connected to the "home network" port unless you just want to access internet.
For anything fancy like what you are talking about, chances are, it won't work because of this double NAT issue.
If you run out of router ports, just get a switch. Far better solution.
