I have a wired ethernet printer connected to my home network router. It would be convenient for me to plug the Ooma into the router and then plug the printer into the Ooma. Will this setup work?
Since Ooma would have a different NAT than your router, printer would not be reachable by computers connected to the router. Get a swtich instead, plug the switch into your router, so you'd have more ports.
Thank you for your prompt reply. In order for me to be clear on this, let me review my situation. I want to put my router in a room about 25 ft. away from printer and Ooma. I am going to run a 25 ft. cat-6 cable from router to the Ooma/printer location. Can I put the switch at the end of the run and then plug the Ooma and the printer into the switch? Thanks.
Yes. As long as switch is connected to router, whatever is connected to the switch is just like connected to the router.
Thanks so much. I will try this tomorrow.
